Digital certificate

If you have tried to access your Personal Space, within the Catalog of the Municipal Libraries Network, you may have received a message warning you that you were entering a site that you don't trust. To spare you from this message, you should install the digital certificate of the Diputació de Barcelona in your usual browser.

A digital certificate is a mechanism by means of which any internet user can show trust towards a given web site, through the certification issued by a third party, the certifying authority (in this case, Diputació de Barcelona).

In order to browse in complete security, you should install the public key in your computer, by means of which recognition of digitally certified pages will be enabled.

Option 1: The procedure to install the public key from Diputació de Barcelona, which is issued by CATCert, refers only to computers with Windows as an operating system and Internet Explorer and Firefox as browsers, which are the most commonly used combinations amongst users. The procedure is very similar for other operating systems and browsers.

Option 2: The public key of Diputació de Barcelona is issued by CATCert. Next, we provide instructions on how to install it in computers using the most usual combination of operating system and browsers: Windows with Firefox or Internet Explorer browsers. The procedure is very similar for other operating systems and browsers.

Each browser keeps its own store of installed certifications. Therefore, it its necessary to install the certificate in each browser you use.

Two certificates must be installed, according to these directions:

Installing the first certificate

Click here to install the first certificate.

A window like the following will open:

You must thick the box "Confiar en esta CA para identificar sitios web", and next press "Aceptar".

Installing the second certificate

Click here to install the second certificate.

Follow the same steps as for the first certificate.

After completing these two steps you will have installed the digital certificate of the Diputació de Barcelona in your browser.

Verifying digital certificates

To review your digital certificates and maybe delete some of them, you can follow this path on your browser:

• Herramientas --> Opciones --> Avanzado --> Cifrado --> Ver Certificados --> Autoridades

Installation for Internet Explorer

Two certificates must be installed, according to these directions:

Installing the first certificate

Click here to install the first certificate.

A window like the following will open:

Press the button "Abrir"

A second dialog window will open:

In this second second dialog you must click on the button "Instalar Certificado" and follow the interactive help that will guide you step by step through the installation of the certificate. When the process is finished, press "Aceptar". The dialog window will close and the certificate will be correctly installed.

Installing the second certificate

Click here to install the second certificate.

Follow the same steps as for the first certificate.

After completing these two steps you will have installed the digital certificate of the Diputació de Barcelona in your browser.
